Education: African Fable
Before the People Came
A horrible drought has settled on the desert plain, leaving the animals weak with thirst. Rabbit discovers a juicy pear tree, but it is guarded by a vicious tiger in no mood to share. Working together, the animals overcome this obstacle in a most unexpected way. Written for children by Dr. Jeff Obafemi Carr, this musical is a heartwarming adaptation of an African folktale, infusing lessons on the importance of sharing and the value of diversity with original African rhythms, Jazz, Blues, Funk, and Pop music that will have you singing along as you learn the morals found in a magical tale woven together with hip, spoken-word poetry and showcasing creative costumes that will invoke memories of The Lion King.

The singing kept their interest and the story is one that needs to be told to children when it comes to taking care of the EARTH... Great! Teacher, Memphis, TN
My class loved this program. The actors did amazing jobs and engaged my class for the entire performance. My class is a Pre-K class, so that is quite a feat! Teacher, Memphis, TN
'Before The People Came' was a wonderful experience for our young ESL students. They were mesmerized by the play. The actors were very professional, and the costumes and sets were so creative. Teacher, Memphis, TN
